Kanna is one of the first recreational dispensaries in Reno, Nevada, where I led the evolution of the brand across digital, print, and in-store experiences. As the design and brand lead, I created cohesive marketing assets, while navigating strict industry regulations. The work helped establish a trusted, wellness-focused identity and contributed to shaping early cannabis marketing standards in Nevada.

mission statment

Kanna’s mission is to provide a safe, knowledgeable, and welcoming cannabis experience rooted in wellness, transparency, and trust. By offering high-quality products in a thoughtfully designed environment, Kanna aims to redefine perceptions of cannabis, shifting away from outdated stereotypes and toward a lifestyle centered on balance, education, and personal well-being.

Compliance & Regulatory Importance

Designing for the cannabis industry in Nevada requires strict adherence to state advertising regulations, which heavily influence both visual and written communication. Limitations on imagery, language, and audience targeting require a careful, strategic approach to ensure all materials remain compliant while still effectively communicating the brand’s message. For Kanna, this meant adopting a tone and aesthetic similar to the health and wellness industry, prioritizing clarity, professionalism, and education. Compliance was not just a requirement but a design constraint that shaped the overall brand identity, helping position Kanna as a credible, responsible, and trustworthy resource within a highly regulated and evolving industry.
